Taking Your Cell Salts
Place the tablets under your tongue and let them dissolve. This allows them to be absorbed directly into your intercellular fluid and cells. Wait a moment (about 15 seconds), then put the next tablets under your tongue, letting them dissolve. It's important not to put different types in your mouth at once, because we want each type to dissolve and be absorbed completely so your body doesn't recombine them.
Tip: You can line up your mineral bottles in the order you’ll be taking them, then move the bottle aside so you know which ones you have taken.
Unlike with vibrational homeopathic medicines, it's ok to take the cell salts right after brushing your teeth, or before/after food or drink, and it's ok to touch the tablets with your hands or let them come into contact with a metal spoon or water bottle.
FAQ
What if I forget or am not able to take them according to the plan?
You do not have to do this perfectly. If you miss taking your cell salts at lunchtime, it’s fine to take them later in the afternoon with a snack, or to start up again at your next meal, or the next day. You will have the best results if you generally take them according to the plan.
are they safe?
Cell salts are completely safe and holistic and do not cause adverse reactions or healing crisis. They create no negative interactions with each other, with supplements, or herbs you may be taking. Note: Cell salts are safe to take with the vast majority of medications. If you are taking any time-released medications, let your cell salts practitioner know.
Couldn’t I just take all the salts in one tablet, or in one handful to make sure I have everything I need?
Some combination products containing multiple cell salts in each tablet are on the market; while convenient, this is not a strategic approach. The chemical bonds in the mineral salts is weak, so they are prone to “swapping dance partners,” creating new mineral combinations that are not harmful to the body, but that may not be the specific or intended mineral combinations your body needs.
Does it make sense to take them if I am vomiting, if I have diarrhea, or if I am not eating?
Yes. Cell salts are absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the lining of your mouth and do not travel through the digestive tract.
How do I know they are working?
The cell salts will start working immediately and you may notice some changes quickly. Other changes will begin to show up over time, as you build energy and resources to support deeper layers of healing and restoration.
In acute cases or if you are very young, you may notice changes quite quickly.
Improvements may include the goals we're working toward and also more. Start looking for changes, large and small, in your health, skin, hair, energy level and mood, digestion, mental acuity, and reduced pain. Early in the process, some people report a generally increased sense of well being.
With chronic issues, the changes will take longer. Some things won't cure, but they will maintain. We will reassess periodically and see how you are doing and if we want to make any changes to your protocol.
The older someone is, the more medications, the personality and lifestyle that might be part of the cause of the issue, are additional reasons why the tissue salts take longer in some cases.
We often want a quick fix. This won't happen on the big issues. but the tissue salts will help the underlying deficiencies. As far as noticing improvements, this will depend on the degree of awareness that you have of your own body. This is why we have documented how you felt initially, so that we can check in on those key things over time and help you see the small improvements.
I have a lactose, wheat or gluten sensitivity
-DHU tablets are pharmaceutically certified by the German government as 0.0004%-therefore are regarded as gluten free. The excipient in this case is undetectable and regarded as pharmacologically inactive.
-In case of lactose intolerance a reaction may occur when taking a quantity of 50 to 80 tablets (measured on the amount of lactose the salts are based on). Such large prescriptions would be considered unusual; there is nothing to fear with normal intake.
- Cell salts are absorbed through the buccal mucosa of the mouth and, as such, bypass the gut completely, being absorbed straight into the bloodstream.
-My colleagues have worked with people who get violently ill with milk or gluten allergies and are able to take the tissue salts. Allergies may be a symptom of which minerals the body is deficient in... Regarding gluten: because gluten is a type of protein, and calc phos helps protein metabolism, prescribing calc phos will often help to reduce the symptoms of gluten intolerance, and even allow for a reintroduction after a period of time. (Nat phos and Mag phos are also helpful remedies for allergies and intolerances.)
-When working with people with extreme intolerances, my colleagues offer reassurance, and these people are able to take the tablets with no ill effect. If they are still concerned, we encourage them to start slowly, dissolving each tablet in water and letting the base settle to the bottom of the glass. Sip the water and keep it in your mouth for a couple seconds before swallowing, leaving the base behind. Although this is not technically necessary, it is enough for the tissue salts to be absorbed through the buccal mucosa and for people to see that they are not going to react, and build confidence in taking the tablets.
where can I get more cell salts?
I carry the cell salts in my office. You may pick them up at your next appointment, or contact me. We also now have a brand of cell salts available at the VIroqua Food Coop for a similar price.
Cell Salts from Other Sources
In the US, Hyland’s cell salts are the most readily available brand. They are carried by some health food stores, or you can order them online through Hyland’s.
Note: The US cell salt producers use different numbering systems than European countries and Australia, so when you are considering various brands, be sure to go by the name of the cell salt, rather than relying on the numbering system. You will also find the same cell salt designated by a variety of names. See this chart for number and name equivalencies.
